G R Lane Health Products has acquired Jakemans, the Lincolnshire-based manufacturers and sellers of high quality menthol confectionery. For Lane's, a family-run company established in 1930, the acquisition is a logical progression, with Jakemans' traditional products and use of natural ingredients complementing Lane's own world-leading brands such as Olbas. Jakemans, which has been producing confectionery since 1907, is the fastest growing brand in the functional menthol confectionery sector. The current portfolio of unique formulations - comprising a traditional menthol range, blister-pack lozenges and a sugar free range suitable for diabetics - focuses primarily on soothing coughs, colds and sore throats. The acquisition is great news for retailers who currently stock or are interested in stocking Jakemans; the brand can expect considerable growth with the backing of Lane's, a market leader in the Healthcare Products sector with considerable experience in marketing similar products with success.
