Swan growth in filters continues

It's been a busy year for Swedish Match with the ongoing success of the innovative Pop-a-tip feature on their Swan filters packs, the UK's number one filter*.

The Pop-a-tip has been designed for a cleaner and easier use and is available across Swan Slim, Swan Extra Slim and Swan Menthol formats so customers will always be able to find the perfect filter.

Swan soundly believes there is constant need for innovation to ensure customers' needs are met. Following research carried out by Swan in 2006 they found their customers are loyal to their Pop-a-tip pack format. The common view was that the design is practical, space saving, keeps the filters clean, is useful for storing a few pre-rolled cigarettes and the packs are stylish.

The Swan Slimline Loose and Pop-a-tip variants are being supported by a strong national consumer advertising campaign during November and December in leading titles which include The Sun and News of The World. Other activities for the campaign have included Swan sampling their products across the country over the Summer to ensure their loyal customers have the opportunity to try the easy to use pack.

Andrew Hardie, Marketing Manager at Swedish Match said: "One of the main drivers for NPD is listening to feedback from our customers and consumers and acting upon it to develop a product tailored specifically to meet their needs."

"We are always looking at how we can add value and innovation to the category, with NPD such as Swan Combi and Child Resistant (CR) lighters. Offering more value for retailers with initiatives like Pop-a-tip filters shows that our commitment to driving the sector forward is as strong as ever. With our current advertising and promotional campaign in full flow we're advising all retailers to stock up leading up to the Christmas sales push."

2008 looks set to be just as exciting for Swedish Match as Swan celebrates its 125 Anniversary. "We have an exciting host of activity planned as we look back over 125 years of one of the country's most famous brands. All will be revealed in 2008 but our retail partners are sure to benefit from a number of customer offers designed to add value to their bottom line." commented Hardie.
