New Giant Chocolate & Chilli Cookie set to spice up cookie market

Hotting up the cookie market, Paterson Arran, has taken giant steps with its much loved Giant Cookies range, which has been re-launched under its Bronte brand with four exciting new cookie varieties including Flaming Choc, a fiery chocolate and chilli cookie.

Made to a palm oil free recipe, the four new Giant Cookie varieties are:
¥ Flaming Choc - A hot spicy cookie with cool dark choc chips and fiery chilli flakes
¥ Triple Choc - Chocolate cookie heaven in each bite with milk and white choc chunks
¥ Choco Fudge - A fudgetastic cookie choc-full of smooth milk chocolate chips
¥ Fruity Oat - A fruity little number crammed full of juicy raisins and oaty goodness

Delicious eaten straight from the pack or heated up with ice-cream, each Giant Cookie comes individually wrapped. Guaranteed to maximise on-shelf visibility with highly distinctive, bright coloured packaging and a clear window showcasing the product's home baked appeal, the new highly distinctive Bronte packaging design makes it easy for the trade to differentiate the four varieties.

Debbie Ballach, Marketing Manager for Paterson Arran said: "We took a bold step combining chocolate and chilli with our new Flaming Choc cookie. It's got a fantastic hot chilli after-taste with smooth chocolate and crunchy cookie appeal. The new flavours went down a storm through the consumer trials and we're confident they'll prove a hit with the market.

"Whether you like your cookies with thick chunks of chocolate, fruit or fiery chilli heat, these new Giant Cookie flavours are the perfect accompaniment to a hot or cold drink. They're also ideal for students or grazers looking for a filling and tasty snack in place of a chocolate bar and consumers eating on the move."

Paterson Arran is one of the only independent food companies in the UK to address the growing environmental concerns of palm oil harvesting. In the last few years, 90% of the rainforests in South East Asia have been destroyed as a result of palm oil harvesting. The destruction of these forests, which are home to orang-utans, is threatening their very existence. Paterson's take this issue seriously and the company has pledged to remove palm oil from all its products by the end of 2007.

As with all Paterson Arran's palm oil free products, the Giant Cookies range carries an orang-utan friendly label on-pack and environmental information. Suitable for vegetarians, the new Bronte Giant Cookies are also made to a nut and GM-free recipe, and use only the finest ingredients.

Each 60g cookie carries an RRP of 49p. There are 14 Giant Cookies per display tray and 28 packs in an outer case. The range is available in major wholesalers, cash & carries and independents throughout the UK.
