Star Micronics demonstrates range of new products at Retail Solutions 2007

Star Micronics, one of the world's largest POS printer manufacturers, will be exhibiting its extensive portfolio of receipt, label, barcode, ticket and kiosk printers as well as visual card systems at Retail Solutions 2007, 5-7 June 2007, NEC, Birmingham (Stand H4, Halls 17 & 18). Star Micronics has reinforced its leading position within the point-of-sale printer marketplace with the launch of a number of new products. Following the phenomenal success to date of the TSP100 futurePRNT thermal receipt printer, which has now been adopted by some of the largest retailers worldwide, Star has enhanced the versatility of the printer by developing the world's first dedicated entry-level powered USB printer. With USB now the interface of choice, the TSP100 futurePRNT with powered USB combines both the power supply and interface and is an obvious long-term option that responds to growing retailer demand for future-proof 'plug-in and go' point-of-sale printers. Accompanying the TSP100 futurePRNT, Star has used its significant expertise in printer design to develop a new second generation of its highly successful TSP700 point-of-sale printer. Since its initial launch five years ago, the TSP700 has proved to be a versatile, high performing reliable printer that has taken the industry by storm. Its unique versatility in terms of its multi-functional ability to print receipts, barcodes, labels and tickets has resulted in the TSP700 finding huge success in a range of different applications. The TSP700II truly succeeds its predecessor by combining high speed with superior functionality. A highly sophisticated printer, the TSP700II is capable of printing at a remarkable 250mm/second making it the fastest single station printer available today. Star has also incorporated a number of software tools from its futurePRNT™ series allowing users to complement their existing software with graphic management and coupon/text processing tools while providing a number of technical tools to facilitate integration. A further addition to the Star portfolio is a new revolutionary, feature-rich matrix printer that offers not only reliability and high performance but also a range of unique features most recently developed for its latest thermal printer. Star has designed a high speed, 9-pin high quality matrix printer capable of printing up to 8.7 lps. This equates to 13 x 20 line receipts per minute based on Star's new standard in print speed measurement (RPM). With its easy-load 'Drop-In & Print' design the SP700 has a full or partial cutter and will also include features from the unique, ground breaking software provided with the TSP100 futurePRNT. Building on its expertise and success to date within the point-of-sale printer marketplace, Star has now strengthened its position within the label printing market by being the first manufacturer to incorporate an automatic label peeler as standard on a low-cost solution. The TSP828 is a high resolution 203dpi direct thermal printer with a small footprint and easy loading capability that is able to print 0.5 metre of labels in just 3 seconds using the auto peeler. With fully adjustable paper widths, the TSP828 can accommodate label widths from 45mm to 112mm and label lengths from 30mm to 300mm. The printer also features a dual USB and serial interface with parallel and Ethernet options. Alongside these products, Star will also be demonstrating its wide variety of kiosk printers now available with new and improved drivers as well as its range of visual card systems. Having been in the card business for over 20 years, Star has developed a unique range of visual card systems that can literally erase and re-write a card with new text and graphics. With applications across a number of sectors including loyalty, membership, electronic wallet and security/ID, these systems represent a sophisticated and versatile solution.
