Weight Watchers fruit spread goes natural

Weight Watchers, the UK's number one weight management organisation, is launching its new look range of fruit spreads, produced under licence for Weight Watchers by sales, marketing and distribution specialist Petty, Wood who recently secured a three year licence.

All five flavours in the new range, Strawberry, Raspberry, Apricot, Orange and Blackcurrant, are made from 100% pure fruit and fruit extracts with no added sugar, additives, artificial sweeteners, colourings, flavourings or preservatives, making them a delicious every day treat.

Petty, Wood Chief Executive Mike Hogg explains: "We are delighted to be able to add the Fruit Spreads licence to the portfolio of Weight Watchers products that we represent in various trade sectors, and believe there is huge opportunity to grow share in this category.

"The Weight Watchers brand is enjoying strong year on year growth and enjoys exceptional levels of customer loyalty and household penetration. We believe we have identified an excellent opportunity to reposition the Weight Watchers Fruit Spread offering in line with growing consumer trends towards premium and natural products.

"We have developed a totally new all natural recipe that takes the range forward significantly in terms of flavour delivery, texture and appearance. In addition, we have introduced brand new structural packaging that emphasises the diet/healthy eating and fruit/taste credentials of the range to ensure on-shelf stand out."

The new range is available now from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrison's and Somerfield, with further listings to follow at other major retailers.
