Wrights Dairies knows Hubbard Transport always delivers
When independent family-run dairy distribution business Wrights Dairies needed a further three refrigeration units to add to new vehicles they knew to look no further than Hubbard Transport Refrigeration Solutions, a division of Hubbard Products Ltd and part of the Zanotti S.p.A. family of refrigeration and cold storage specialists.
 Wrights, based in Poole, is a long-standing customer of Hubbard Transport and has purchased Hubbard units for each of its 12 vehicles. In addition to the three Hubbard 520 Alpha ELs fitted in 2007 they have a further nine Hubbard 490 units and are planning to buy two more 520 units from Hubbard to fit on new vehicles in 2008.
Hubbard produces a complete range of refrigeration systems for all types of vehicle. These include several 'Best in Class' high performance systems as well as cost effective and reliable refrigeration for applications demanding robust simplicity.
Wrights Dairies runs its premier chilled delivery service throughout a significant part of Dorset and Hampshire and due to the rapid organic growth of the business recently moved to a brand new one-acre site in Poole. The three new Hubbard units were purchased to cope with this increased demand in the company's services.
Richard Love, Managing Director of Wrights Dairies explains: "When Wrights first specified refrigerated units, back in the 1980s, we fitted underslung refrigeration units to our lorries, but we soon saw the benefits front mounting units provided and purchased a number of models. These came from a different manufacturer and we weren't happy with them so soon changed to Hubbard systems. We've been so delighted with their performance we've stuck with them ever since.
"Some of our contract units with non-Hubbard refrigeration systems were replaced recently with further contract units and we insisted on Hubbard systems being fitted. Our fridge engineer was specifically chosen as he is Hubbard-recognised and I have no doubt our next units and many more to come will be from Hubbard."
Richard continues: "All our vehicles are 7.5 tonne box bodies and the last three purchased were 18ft, long-bodied models, which are more economical as they can carry a larger load with similar fuel consumption to our other lorries.
"It was good timing really as these lorries were purchased at the same time that Hubbard brought out the 520 units. These are ideal for refrigerating larger box body vehicles and, mirroring the long-bodied lorries, we also wanted refrigeration units that would be economical and environmentally friendly."
The Hubbard 520 Alpha is a split unit refrigeration system designed for front mounting on box body vehicles, offering larger capacities of 3.5 up to 10 tonne. The system is operated by an easy to use in-cab digital controller that is fully programmable and provides constant temperature readout.
The 520 Alpha uses environmentally friendly R404a refrigerant and is suitable for temperatures down to -25¡C.
Richard adds: "We have continued to specify Hubbard units for a number of reasons. We find them simple to operate and appreciate the fact they are all direct drive. Wrights have to do multiple drops in one journey but the recovery period with the Hubbards is quick and there is also good airflow throughout the load space, especially important in the longer lorries. We also do a lot of early morning runs and so the fact the units are also low noise is crucial."
