Tetra Pak UK announces three National Recycling Officer appointments
Tetra Pak UK & Ireland has appointed three new National Recycling Officers [NROs] to accelerate the development of drinks carton recycling in the UK.
 Fay Dashper and Jenny Walden join the firm from Oxfordshire County Council, where they were responsible for waste reduction. Benjamin Aebischer, a long-serving Tetra Pak employee, has also joined the team, bringing his knowledge of the technical aspects of cartons to expanding recycling opportunities.
Richard Hands, Environment Manager, Tetra Pak UK, comments: "Fay and Jenny joined us at a time of great change for both consumers and the carton industry. They have helped to drive carton recycling to many more local authorities than would have otherwise been possible - there are now carton recycling facilities available across 70% of the UK - and will be working to build on those successes going forward.
"Ben's background working in the technical division of Tetra Pak across Europe gives an invaluable insight as we strive to find new solutions for consumers to recycle their cartons. All three NROs will be working hard to ensure we meet our target of national carton recycling availability by the end of 2008."
Fay Dashper came to Tetra Pak having worked in the public sector for almost seven years. At Oxfordshire County Council she headed up a waste reduction team of nine people, dedicated to reducing the volume of waste going to landfill. Her long public sector experience is invaluable in helping to deliver successful carton recycling schemes.
Jenny Walden worked with Fay at Oxfordshire County Council, and prior to that as Waste Minimisation and Education Officer for South Oxfordshire District Council. She travelled the world with her family when growing up and was inspired to pursue her career when she happened to meet a 'garbologist' in the USA.
Ben Aebischer joined Tetra Pak in his native Switzerland in 2001. He then worked for the Italian arm of the firm, before moving to Wrexham and joining the British operation. Ben's desire to join the recycling team was inspired by Tetra Pak's commitment to the environment, and his experiences growing up in eco-conscious Switzerland.
