A packaging revolution from Supreme Petfoods

Supreme Petfoods is changing the face of the petfood market by radically redesigning the packaging for its entire range of small animal foods. The new look packaging incorporates a sophisticated modern design that appeals to small animal owners and ensures that Supreme's products continue to fly off retailers' shelves.

Alan Walmsley, Supreme's Marketing Manager said: "Pet owners have become more sophisticated, and now fully understand the importance of good nutrition for their animal's general well-being. Their perception of what constitutes the right pet food has changed. They are now looking for a high quality product that has been tailored by experts to meet the specific dietary needs of their particular small animal species."

Supreme's packaging redesign reflects this change in owners' criteria. The new packs better illustrate the ingredients used and include a window allowing the actual product to be seen. The nutritional value of the food is further demonstrated by the inclusion of a Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) information box. Walmsley continues: "Consumers are familiar with the concept of an RDA box for human food, as a means of determining how 'good' the product is for them. Supreme is the first manufacturer to apply this concept to pet food and prove that it is delivering 100% of their small animal's daily nutritional requirements."

The packs now feature a realistic animal image to help small animal owners more readily identify the most appropriate food for their pet. The inclusion of the familiar Russel, Gerty, Harry and co cartoons, along with maintenance of the overal colour scheme, helps associate the new eye-catching design with the previous versions of these market leading products.

As well as looking good, the new packaging sits better on retailers' shelves, helping Supreme's products to stand out from the crowd. The use of higher quality packaging materials reflect the high quality of product inside. The new packs also feature innovative new technology, such as ziplocks on the larger sizes to help maintain freshness. Sizes are now consistent across the range, at 850g and 2.5 kg, allowing key price points and retailer margins to be maintained.
